World Cup 2014: Quarter Finals! Brasil vs Colombia!

Now here is the true match of the day for World Cup 2014!

Colombia – with James Rodriguez and his baddass-ness and goal scoring finesse vs Brasilia and all its heavily overloaded team with Neymar and Hulk just to name two.

I strongly lean, on a personal level, for one particular team, but we will see if the drinks agree.

And where to I go from here with Brasil and drinks (I think people have had enough Caipirinha’s …….or no?)

Yes – take Caipirinha and stand it on its head!

Presenting, the Capoeira na praia (or Capoeira en la playa). A drink bringing more fruit, more strength, and bringing the heat, as well as the sweet from Brasilia.

Brasilia in a glass

Brasilia in a glass

Capoeira na praia:

  • 1oz Cachaca
  • 1/2oz 100 proof Cinnamon Schnapps
  • 1/2oz Passion Fruit Syrup
  • 1/2oz Lime Juice
  • 1/2oz Grenadine
  • 2oz Pineapple Juice
  • 2oz Summer Edition Red Bull

Shake all ingredients except Pineapple Juice and Redbull w/ice. Strain into Specialty Glass filled with ice. Add Pineapple Juice and Summer Edition Redbull. (Garnish with Pineapple Wedge and Cherry).

This by far has pretty much been the best drink throughout the entire World Cup 2014 drink off I have been doing. I was blown away on 1st sip, and held back finishing before making the Colombian drink for the photoshoot. One problem tho, is Summer Edition Redbull will be gone in a few months, but the substitute would be grapefruit soda mixed with guava juice, or both as juice and add club soda.

Best. Drink. Yet.

So how does Colombia bring it in this one? Well, we take their namesake, El Cafatero’s and then take the Colombian Flag, and wham bam – we get the Colombian Latte! And, then decisions get difficult.

Colombia - somehow got ugly but still brings it

Colombian Latte:

  • 1oz Aguardiente (again, Rum+Strega)
  • 1/2oz Blue Curacao
  • 1/2oz Grenadine
  • 1/2oz Lemon Juice
  • 1oz Pisco
  • 2oz Pineapple Juice
  • Sprite

Shake all ingredients together with ice and strain into ice filled Collins glass. Top with Sprite for a nice “foam”. Enjoy.

This drink probably ranks high within this World Cup 2014 drink off as well, as it just competes on all levels, is high proof, and has refreshing ingredients. However, it is one of the non-good looking drinks, and, really, unless you take the time to even attempt a layer job, it just does not come out looking good – BUT damn does it taste good.

So who wins here? I lean to Colombia, but, drink wise – Capoeira and Brasilia has this in the bag. But I would not mind if the drinks are wrong.
